Family Counseling

Family Counseling at Friendswood Family Counseling is systemic.

This means that all family members are impacted by the experiences that happen in the family.  Marriage and family therapists believe that when a family experiences an event, such as a divorce or even chronic stress, every member of the family is impacted by it.  Therefore, all members of the family can benefit from spending time in counseling.  In family therapy, family members learn ways to better cope with their situation.   Some of the issues that negatively impact families are following:

  • Loss of a family member
  • School problems
  • Navigating adolescence
  • Developing healthy communication strategies
  • Parenting
  • Difficulties with friends
  • Managing drug and alcohol use or abuse
  • Understanding addiction
  • Dealing with medical issues
  • Grief work
