Pre-Marital Counseling

Pre-Marital Counseling at Friendswood Family Counseling is designed to strengthen marriages and prevent divorce.

Pre-marital counseling involves using the Engaged! curriculum developed by Michael Smalley and is approved by the state of Texas.  Rochelle meets regularly with you and your finance’ for several weeks prior to your wedding day.  A minimum of four sessions is required but couples who complete all 8 hours will receive a certificate of completion that will allow you to get $60 off your marriage license.

In premarital counseling, you will look at ways to make your marriage succeed by learning about the following topics that impact relationships:

  • Family of origin issues
  • Finances
  • Sex
  • Blended families
  • Divorce recovery
  • Communication skill development
  • Conflict resolution skills

Sometimes couples have unique needs that may impact their relationship, such as medical problems or mental health issues.   Pre-marital counseling at Friendswood Family Counseling gives couples the option to incorporate additional resources into the sessions to help meet those needs.  Rochelle is committed to making these sessions relevant to each couple’s situation so that your relationship is strengthened appropriately prior to marriage.
